(Update) Thousands Without Power, Temperatures Still Soar

(Updated Thursday, 9:34 a.m. ) Thousands of electricity customers in Virginia remain without service but utility crews are making progress.
As of Thursday morning, more than 112,000 customers across the state have no electricity due to last weekend's severe storms. That's down from a peak of about 1.2 million.
The outages include 84,995 Appalachian Power customers and 27,129 Dominion Virginia Power customers. Rappahannock Electric Cooperative reports that it plans to virtually have the fewer than 400 customers without service back on line by the end of the day.
The storms have been blamed for 12 deaths in Virginia.
