RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The city of Richmond is teaming up with a Roman Catholic health system to bring the Washington Redskins' training camp to 17 acres west of downtown.

The announcement was made Monday by Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones and Bon Secours Richmond Health Systems. Included in the deal is the construction of a $6.4 million sports medicine center that would be used by the team during its three-week camp.

Media reports say the city would be obligated to raise $500,000 a year for the team as part of the arrangement. The camp is estimated to have a yearly economic impact of about $8.5 million.

The training camp would be located on state property behind the Science Museum of Virginia.

The Redskins' camp has been held for the last decade in Ashburn.
