Storms rolling across Orange County Wednesday afternoon sent some residents scurrying for cover.
Lillian Johnson of Lake of the Woods says there was rain and thunder. She tells The Free Lance-Star's Dan McFarland that the wind was so strong, she thought it was going to rip her sundeck completely off the house. One tree did strike there and barely missed a deck.
Denise Caceres says she ran to the bathroom for safety. She says the noise was loud and she heard something hit the house hard. Caceres was afraid that her daughter may have been upstairs and that it was her room that was hit, but the one damaged was vacant. A second tree hit their house seconds after the first.
The National Weather Service has confirmed that the storm spawned a microburst that caused damage to several houses in the subdivision. It was all over fast and thankfully nobody was hurt.
