Fredericksburg police report that a vehicle has been driven into the Rappahannock Canal at Fall Hill Avenue.
According to fredericksburg.com, two women ages 50 and 80 were inside the car. They have since been taken to the hospital to be checked.
Police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe says the water there is shallow and there wasn't any danger of drowning.
Police said the car was heading from the Bragg Hill area toward the Canal Bridge at about 40 mph when it came upon cars that had stopped to allow pedestrians to cross the road. It then went off the road, hit the guardrail and crashed into the canal.
