Be Safe with Shipping Homemade Holiday Goodies

by Deirdre Blake posted Dec 13 2013 7:42AM
If you're sending a homemade care package to loved ones that live far away now or throughout the year, make sure they're safe.
Even if what's inside is smoked, cured or fully cooked, it still needs to be kept cold. Pack it in somethinglike dry ice, foam or heavy corrugated cardboard for shipping. You could also send: dried beef, fruit, canned nuts, hard candy or dense and dry baked goods, like fruitcake or biscotti.
