BEDFORD, Va. (AP) - Tuesday's City Council election in Bedford could be the last one.
Bedford's plan to convert to a town will be reviewed in December by a three-judge panel. If the plan is approved, the conversion is expected to be completed next summer.
If Bedford reverts to a town, the winners of Tuesday's council election will have to run again next year for the new Town Council.
City Manager Charles Kolakowski says that there might have to be two elections next year. He says a possible redrawing of the town's borders could require additional council representation.
