The cool waters and beautiful views can be a big draw to the banks of the Rappahannock River this time of year, but be careful.
What lurks beneath the surface of the water can be dangerous during the day, but it's worse at night. The risk of falling or drowning is higher, but so is a run in with the cops. It's illegal to be on the river after dark and to have alcohol there anytime. Sixty people have been arrested in recent months and the fine can be hefty.
