Bobby Petrino Fired at Arkansas After 4 Seasons

<VIDEO>FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas has fired football coach Bobby Petrino after he initially lied about the circumstances surrounding his motorcycle accident on April 1.

Athletic director Jeff Long said Petrino knowingly misled him, the school and the public when he said he was alone at the time of the crash. In fact, he was with football department staffer Jessica Dorrell.  Petrino later admitted that he'd had an inappropriate relationship her.

Long said Petrino violated a number of school policies by hiring Dorrell after having a relationship with her and failing to disclose the relationship to the school.

Long says 51-year old Petrino admitted to giving Dorrell $20,000 before she joined the football staff.

Petrino finishes with a 34-17 record in four seasons, 21-5 over his final two - leading the Razorbacks to a No. 5 final ranking last season and a Cotton Bowl win over Kansas State.

Petrino issued a statement saying he is sorry for the selfish decisions that cost him his job.
