UNDATED (AP) - Danny Briere has allowed the Philadelphia Flyers to win the opener of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series against New Jersey. Briere's second goal of the afternoon came at 4:36 of overtime and gave the Flyers a 4-3 victory. The game-winner came just minutes after he had a goal disallowed on review.
James van Riemsdyk and Claude Giroux also scored for Philadelphia, which blew leads of 2-1 and 3-2 before prevailing.
Zach Parise had a goal and an assist for the Devils before Petr Sykora notched the game-tying tally midway through the third period.
Game 2 is set for Tuesday night in Philly.
