Butler Road Water Main Break NOT Related to Intersection Work

by Deirdre Blake posted Jun 28 2013 8:22AM
-The water main break on Butler Road in south Stafford Thursday afternoon was NOT caused by unrelated Falmouth Intersection work in the area the day before.
Stafford County's Kathy Volbrecht tells us that the six foot crack in the pipe happened  simply because of age. She says it was going to be replaced during the intersection project work, but after several decades, just coldn't hold out.
The work area that is covered in gravel could pose a danger and road crews plan to fix the problem. Asphalt will be laid in the area after today's rush hour. Right now, it is likely that work will start around  9:00 or 9:30 p.m. and take a couple of hours.
