Caroline County, Virginia – Between September 10 and September 11, 2013, Caroline County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigators and members of the Virginia State Police executed search warrants in Spotsylvania County and Orange County in relation to what Investigators are calling a large scale multi-million dollar marijuana distribution ring. In total Investigators seized three watercraft, eight vehicles, and a motorcycle believed to have either been used in the sale of drugs or purchased with drug money.
Caroline County Sheriff Tony Lippa said his Investigators reported suspecting two main suspects in Spotsylvania County of running a large scale marijuana distribution organization allegedly responsible for distributing thousands of pounds of marijuana. Investigators served one search warrant at the Lake Anna waterfront residence of the two main suspects in Spotsylvania County. Investigators reported finding a large amount of marijuana hash, hash oil, cash money, weight scales, documents and an arsenal of assault rifles and handguns. Twenty-five year old Andrew Yates of Spotsylvania County was arrested at the residence and charged with possessing marijuana with the intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute marijuana. The second suspect, thirty-five year old Steven Paine of Spotsylvania County was arrested the following day and charged with possessing marijuana with the intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
Sheriff Tony Lippa said no further information can be provided at this time because the investigation is ongoing and involves numerous agencies and federal
authorities. Sheriff Lippa added that this investigation ongoing and should have a severe impact on illegal drug distribution in the entire central Virginia area.
