PATROL OFFICERS AND POLICE K-9 TEAM APPREHEND SUSPECT IN ATTEMPT BURGLARY: On Feb. 6 at 10:34 p.m., officers responded to a liquor store in the 9200 block of Crain Highway in Bel Alton for the report of an intrusion alarm. When officers arrived, they discovered the front door had been shattered but no one was inside. Canine officer Cpl. C. Roberts and his K-9 partner responded and initiated a track that led them to a nearby motel. While canvassing the area, officers located a man fitting the description of the suspect and subsequently recovered evidence linking the man to the attempt burglary. The suspect, Todd Royer Crampton, 30, of Welcome, was arrested and charged with attempt burglary.
BURGLARY: On Feb. 6 at 9:13 p.m., officers responded to the 3100 block of Westdale Court in Waldorf for the report of an intrusion alarm. When officers arrived, they discovered the front door to a residence was open as well as a rear balcony door. Officers processed the scene and discovered the suspect(s) used a ladder to reach the rear balcony and once inside, they attempted to steal a television but fled without taking anything. A police K-9 responded and conducted a track. Evidence was recovered during the search and officers are pursuing leads. Officer M. Armstrong is investigating.
BURGLARY: On Feb. 6 between 6:05 a.m. – 9:05 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a house in the 2400 block of Vidalia Court in Waldorf and stole jewelry, a handgun, and an Xbox. The scene was processed and evidence was recovered. Officer J. Hornickel is investigating.
BURGLARY: On Feb. 6 between 8 a.m. – 5:15 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a house in the 3900 block of Northgate Place in Waldorf and stole an Xbox, video games and cash. The point of entry was through an unlocked window at the rear of the house. Officers are looking into the possibility this case may be related to another burglary that occurred during the same time period in the 3800 block of Gateview Place in which suspects entered a house through a back window and stole cell phones and other electronics. Officers N. Garner and P. Tona are investigating.
BURGLARY: Between Feb. 1 – Feb. 5, unknown suspect(s) broke into a garage in the 7400 block of Bensville Road in White Plains and stole a snow blower. Officer D. Benthin is investigating.
BURGLARIES: On Feb. 6 between 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., unknown suspects(s) broke into an apartment in the 3000 block of Otter Square in Waldorf and stole game systems. The same suspects are believed to be responsible for another burglary on the same day in the 3000 block of October Place in which white china dishes were stolen. Officer J. Hatfield is investigating.
SUSPECT IN STRONG-ARM ROBBERY ARRESTED: On Feb. 6 at 4:47 p.m., officers initiated an investigation into a strong-arm robbery that occurred in the area of Woodland Drive and Indian Head Highway in Accokeek. The victim said he was approached by a lone male who implied he had a weapon and demanded money. The victim complied and the suspect fled. Officers canvassed the area and located the suspect, Jonathan Bell, 26, of Accokeek. Bell was positively identified by the victim and placed under arrest. He was charged with robbery. Officer D. Benthin made the arrest.
