BURGLARY: On Oct. 1 between 11:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a house in the 4500 block of Hunters Ridge Court in La Plata and stole computers and jewelry. Evidence was recovered and officers are working on leads. Officer C. Figgins is investigating.
BURGLARY ARREST: On Sept. 29 at 6 p.m., Cpl. D. Belfield responded to the 7000 block of Quicktree Place in Hughesville for the report of a burglary and theft at a house under construction. According to the builder, someone entered the house and stole copper pipes. Cpl. Belfield canvassed the area and located a witness who provided him with a partial tag number of a suspicious vehicle they had observed in the neighborhood. Cpl. Belfield developed additional information pertaining to the tag and learned the vehicle owner lived in St. Mary’s County. Cpl. Belfield responded to the address of the registered owner and observed copper piping in the vehicle. After investigating further, Cpl. Belfield linked the car’s owner to the burglary and theft. James Bradford Harrison, Jr., 44, of Charlotte Hall, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, theft and destruction of property. The stolen property was returned to the owner.
BURGLARY: Between Sept. 29 – Oct. 1, unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked shed in the 6900 block of Valley Road in La Plata and stole a tool box and other lawn equipment. Cpl. C. Long is investigating.
ASSAULT: On Sept. 29 at 2:34 a.m., officers responded to the 10400 block of Sextant Place in Waldorf for the report of the sound of gunshots. Officers arrived and did not find evidence of a shooting. However, they did locate a man who said he and a friend were at a party on Sextant Place when a fight broke out and they were struck on the head with an object. The man was treated for a minor injury and his friend left prior to police arrival. Officer J. Fromme is investigating.
BURGLARY: On Sept. 29 between 2 p.m. – 7 p.m., unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked window of a house in the 3200 block of St. Peters Church Road in Waldorf and stole a computer, jewelry and other electronics. Officer D. Arends is investigating.
BURGLARY: On Sept. 29 at 4:30 a.m., officers responded to 1214 Smallwood Drive West in Waldorf for an intrusion alarm at a business. As officers checked the building, they noticed ceiling tiles on the floor and quickly determined someone had gained entry through the roof. A perimeter was established and a police K-9 checked the store; however, no one was located inside. A check of inventory showed the suspect(s) stole money. Cpl. R. Zink is investigating.
MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: On Sept. 28 at 6:35 p.m., the driver of a Ford F350 was traveling south on Penns Hill Road near Wallace Bowling Lane in La Plata when he lost control of his truck and flipped over. A camper he was towing struck an embankment and also flipped over, landing on a pick-up truck which was traveling north on Penns Hill Road. None of the occupants of either vehicle were injured. Officer N. Garner is investigating.
