ASSAULT: On Dec. 27 at 9:46 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to a residence in the 3200 block of Manning Court in Waldorf for the reported assault involving a weapon. The investigation revealed Lyshae Angela Anderson-Hardin, 20, of Waldorf told the victim, a 21-year-old Hughesville man, to meet her at her residence to discuss the circumstances of a previous event involving the victim's use of her car. When the victim arrived at the house, the woman confronted him outside with a knife. The victim managed to wrestle the knife away from the woman, who then struck the victim multiple times in his face. As a result of the investigation, Anderson-Hardon was arrested and charged with first-degree assault. She was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Officer P. Morgan investigated.

BURGLARY: On Dec. 27 at 1:15 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to a vacant residence in the 11600 block of Kipling Drive in Waldorf for the reported theft in progress. When officers were en route, police communications dispatched a the description of a white male wearing a dark-colored peacoat who was stealing the HVAC unit behind the residence. Officers arrived on the scene and discovered a rear door was unsecured. As Officer C. Shaw and his K9 partner entered the residence, one suspect, later identified as Elmer William Pessagno, 21, of no fixed address, surrendered to police. Officers continued searching the residence and found a second suspect, Michael Johnathon Bennett, 25, of no fixed address, hiding in a bedroom. The investigated revealed the suspects had forced entry into the residence, stripped the copper wire from the AC unit, and destroyed walls to access and steal electrical wiring. The suspects were charged with theft. Officer J. Kelly investigated.

THEFTS FROM MOTOR VEHICLES: Sometime between 10 p.m. Dec. 26 and 5 a.m. Dec. 27, suspect(s) entered several unlocked vehicles on Williamsburg Drive and Doris Drive in the Pinefield neighborhood in Waldorf and stole money, headphones, a flashlight and a camera. Officers canvassed the area and confirmed six thefts. However, it appears the suspect(s) rifled through additional vehicles but officers were unable to make contact with the owners of those vehicles. Anyone with information about the thefts or who discovers an unreported theft or vehicle break-in is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-932-7777. Charles County Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest. PFC D. Arends is investigating.

BURGLARY: On Dec. 27 at 9 a.m., a detective at the Charles County Sheriff's Office discovered copper piping at the Forensic Science Unit's crime lab in La Plata had been stolen. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-932-2222 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest. PFC J. Walter is investigating.

BURGLARY: On Dec. 27 at 8 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to Kenny's Auto Parts located at 5900 Race Car Place in La Plata for the reported theft. The investigation revealed suspect(s) forced entry onto the property, which is surrounded by a locked gate, and stole the radiators from 30 used cars. The suspect(s) also forced entry into the business's shop and stole a welder, a power washer and other tools. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-932-2222 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest. PFC J. Walter is investigating.

DRUG POSSESSION: On Dec. 26 at 10:45 p.m., Officers J. Morales and R. Kimble of the Charles County Sheriff's Office were conducting a plain-clothes assignment in Waldorf when they discovered an occupied vehicle sitting stationary with it s lights on in a parking lot in the 3500 block of Crain Highway, an area known for drug activity. The officers approached the vehicle and immediately detected the odor of burnt marijuana. Their investigation revealed the occupant, later identified as Brandon Malcom Robbs, 20, of Waldorf, was in possession of marijuana. Robbs was charged with possession of marijuana and was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.

ROBBERY ARREST: On Dec. 17 at 7:45 p.m., the Charles County Sheriff's Office responded to Cricket Wireless located at 11750 Business Park Drive in Waldorf for the reported armed robbery. The initial investigation revealed a suspect had robbed the business and two employees at gunpoint. Detectives later identified the suspect as Brandon Antwon Leach, 26, of Waldorf and obtained a warrant for Leach's arrest on Dec. 21. On Dec. 26 at 9:30 a.m., detectives, patrol officers, the Warrant/Fugitive Unit and a K9 team located Leach at his Waldorf residence and served the warrant, which charges him with armed robbery. Leach was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Det. A. Celia investigated.
