BURGLARY: On Jan. 28 between 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a house by kicking in a rear door in the 300 block of Rivermont Drive in Waldorf. The suspect(s) stole money, a game system, and food. Det. J. Feldman is investigating.
BURGLARY: On Jan. 28 at 1:17 p.m., officers responded to the 15000 block of Truman Manor Lane in La Plata for the report of a suspicious person. The caller said he observed a white male behind a house taking metal from an HVAC unit. The subject left in a work van prior to police arrival, but officers canvassed the area and found the man nearby. Officers initiated a traffic stop and, after further investigation, learned the subject, Joseph Steven Fabien, Jr., 27, of La Plata, had stolen metal from the HVAC and hid it in the woods on Fasser Place. Fabien was arrested and charged with fourth-degree burglary and theft. Officer M. Armstrong is investigating.
MAN CHARGED WITH POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE DRUGS: On Jan. 28 at 5:56 a.m., officers responded to the 2300 block of Sly’s Place in Waldorf for a fight in progress. Officers observed a car fleeing the scene and initiated a traffic stop. As officers approached the car, they observed the occupants had a powdery substance on their nose and lips. Cocaine, marijuana, prescription pills, a digital scale and cash were found inside the car. Daniel Gene Killillay, 22, of Lusby, Brian Cummins Horton, 30, of Bryans Road, and Dayvon Brooks, 20, of Waldorf, were charged with possession of illegal drugs. PFC J. Morales made the arrest.
BARRICADE RESOLVED: On Jan. 27 at 12:50 a.m., officers responded to the 7200 block of Hawthorne Road in La Plata for the report of shots fired. Investigation showed the suspect, Walter Brown, 43, of La Plata, had gone outside his house and fired several rounds from his shotgun and then went back inside his house. Officers attempted to make contact with Brown but to no avail. Members of the CCSO Special Operations Division along with officers from the Calvert County Sheriff's Office Emergency Response Team made entry into the house and took Brown into custody. Inside the house, officers found three shotguns, three rifles and two handguns. Brown was charged as a felon in possession of a gun. PFC D. Harrison is investigating.
DRUG ARREST: On Jan. 27 at 12:10 a.m., officers attempted to make a traffic stop on Crain Highway near Smallwood Drive but the driver took off and drove over top the median into the north bound lanes of Route 301. The driver continued driving against traffic but then made a u-turn and fled south. The driver eventually pulled over near the 3700 block of Crain Highway. He exited his car and immediately surrendered. A computer check revealed the driver, Brendon Lavon Nash, 25, of North Carolina, was driving with a suspended license and operating an uninsured and unregistered motor vehicle. In addition, officers found marijuana inside the car. Nash was charged with multiple traffic violations. Officer A. Fenlon made the arrest.
FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT: On Jan. 26 at 8:45 p.m., officers responded to the Blue Bay Restaurant in the 9400 block of Berry Road in Waldorf for the report of shots fired. An investigation showed there was a large party - described by patrons as a “teen go-go” - being held at the business and during the event, a group of people were asked to leave. The group left and got into a car but someone inside the car pulled a gun and fired a shot toward the building. The round went through the exterior wall and struck an 18-year-old male who was inside; he was not injured and did not need medical treatment. Officers recovered the bullet and other evidence and are working on leads to identify the suspect(s). Det. J. Elliott is investigating.
THEFTS: On Jan. 26 between 12:01 a.m. - 10:30 p.m., unknown suspects entered several unlocked cars in the area of Teauges Point Road in Hughesville and stole an iPod. The suspects also entered an unlocked garage door and stole a large water cooler filled with coins. Several other vehicles had been tampered with on Swan Harbor Lane but nothing was reported stolen. Officers canvassed the area and observed two sets of footprints in the snow. One set of prints appeared to be that of a large boot about 15 inches in size. PFC M. Hancock is investigating.
RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT: On Jan. 25 at 2 a.m., unknown suspect(s) fired shots at a house in the 11200 block of Robinwood Court in Waldorf. No one inside the house was injured and there is no apparent motive. Evidence was recovered from the scene. PFC P. DeBoe is investigating.
