BURGLARY/THEFT: Sometime between 7:10 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. June 12, suspect(s) forced entry into a residence in the 1600 block of Debra Drive in Waldorf and stole a video game system, an iPod and loose change and fled undetected. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Officer D. Butler is investigating.
 
THEFT: On June 13 at 8:40 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 3600 block of Mt. Pleasant Road in Waldorf for the report of a theft in progress. A witness had reported seeing three male suspects preparing to steal an automotive lift. When officers arrived, they observed the suspects loading the lift onto a trailer. The investigation revealed William Robert Yates, 60, of Waldorf is acquainted with the victim and was responsible for the theft attempt. The other two suspects were not aware the property was being stolen. Officers arrested Yates and charged with him with theft valued between $1,000 and $10,000. Yates was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Cpl. J. R. Elliott investigated.
 
THEFT: On June 13 at 4:40 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Meadow Place in Waldorf for the reported motor vehicle theft attempt. A male suspect was in the victim’s vehicle when he heard shouts from a witness who said she was calling the police. The suspect ran from the vehicle and was quickly followed by a white passenger car, which had been parked in the spot next to the victim’s vehicle. A short distance away, the passenger car stopped and the suspect got inside. The suspects and car’s occupants then fled the area. The initial suspect was described as a black male between 18 and 25 years old. The white passenger car was described as a newer model vehicle, possibly a Toyota. THEFT: Sometime between 9 p.m. June 12 and 5 a.m. June 13, suspect(s) shattered the windshield and passenger-side windows of a vehicle parked in the 11500 block of Timberbrook Drive in Waldorf. The suspect(s) stole a piece of luggage from the backseat before fleeing the scene. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Officer D. Gehrman is investigating.
 
THEFT: On June 12 at 1:12 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to JB Robinson Jewelers located at 11110 Mall Circle in Waldorf for the reported theft. The investigation revealed a male suspect asked a sales associate to show him a pair of earrings. When the sales associate brought out the earrings, the suspect grabbed them and fled from the store and out of the mall from the exit near the Ruby Tuesday’s restaurant. The suspect was described as a black male between 18 and 21 years of age with a trimmed beard and braces on his teeth. He was wearing blue jeans and a black jacket. VEHICLE INTO BUILDING: On June 10 at 2:33 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Commerce Liquors located at 11916 Business Park Drive in Waldorf for the report of a vehicle that had crashed through the building. The investigation revealed a 2005 Toyota Camry entered the parking lot and struck the front of the building after the driver failed to stop. The driver, Carolyn Linda Hamilton, 61, of Forestville, sustained minor injuries and was treated and released by Emergency Medical Services personnel at the scene. The occupant of the store, a clerk, was uninjured. A building inspector found no structural damage but the business was closed as result of electrical damages and other damages to the glass front exterior. Officer J. Kelly investigated.
 
PROPERTY DESTRUCTION: The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of property crimes in which suspect(s) have shattered the windows of vehicles parked at various locations in Waldorf by shooting what officers believe to be a BB or airsoft gun.
 
Most recently, the suspect(s) shot the windows out of four vehicles sometime between 11 p.m. June 7 and 7 a.m. June 8 in the Deerwood and Hampshire neighborhoods in Waldorf. Similar incidents occurred on May 29 on Garner Ave., at the St. Charles Town Center and at the Ken Dixon Chevrolet dealership; on May 30 at Enterprise Leasing and Mr. Muffler; and on June 6 at the Home Depot. Witnesses in each case described the possible suspect vehicle as a dark green or dark blue Toyota Corolla missing its right hubcap.
