DETECTIVES ARREST SUSPECTS IN ROBBERY AND ASSAULT:
Detectives assigned to the CCSO Criminal Investigations Division have identified three people wanted in connection with a robbery and assault of a 29-year-old male; two of the suspects have been arrested and detectives are seeking the third suspect’s whereabouts. The robbery occurred on July 23 when the victim was invited to the home of an acquaintance, Jessica Lynn Winkler, 21, who lives in an apartment in the 4300 block of Hawthorne Road in Indian Head. Once at the apartment, the victim was confronted by two male suspects: Giovanni Anthony Carmichael, 24, of no fixed address and Alex Christian Trollinger, 19, of Indian Head. They entered the apartment after the victim’s arrival, pulled a shotgun and a handgun and demanded the victim’s money and cigarettes. Then, the suspects began punching and kicking the victim. During the assault, one of the guns fired but no one was struck; the round went into a wall. After the assault, the suspects carried the victim - who was unconscious – outside where they left him on the side of the building. The victim was found by officers who were responding to the area for the assault. The victim was transported to the hospital where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries.
Detectives responded to the scene and conducted multiple interviews. They developed information about the suspects’ identities and learned the victim had gone to the apartment to purchase drugs. Investigators obtained arrest warrants and Winkler and Trollinger were arrested on July 26. They were charged with robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, use of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and theft. An arrest warrant is on file for Carmichael and detectives are seeking his whereabouts. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective C. Wimberly at (301) 609-6491.
