OFFICERS ARREST ROBBERY SUSPECTS: On Dec. 21 at 4:10 p.m., officers responded to the 4700 block of Sheffield Court in Waldorf for the report of a robbery. The victim, an 18-year-old male, made arrangements, via social networking, to sell a pair of tennis shoes to an acquaintance. The buyer, Derrick Renaldo Pitts, 18, of La Plata, drove to the victim’s house with two males to make the purchase. During the transaction - which was conducted inside Pitts’ car - one of the males pulled out a firearm and demanded the victim’s tennis shoes and money. The victim complied and the suspects fled. The victim called 911 to report the incident. A description of the suspect’s car was broadcast and shortly thereafter, Cpl. C. Strafella observed the vehicle near Crain Highway and St. Patrick’s Drive. A traffic stop was initiated and Pitts – who was alone at the time - was arrested and charged in connection with the robbery. Evidence relating to the robbery was found in his vehicle. As a result of Pitts’ arrest, officers soon identified the gunman in the robbery as Antonio Malachi Bryant, 20, of La Plata. Bryant was located at 10:45 p.m. after a La Plata Town police officer stopped him for speeding on Charles Street. At the time of the traffic stop, officers noticed Bryant was wearing the victim’s stolen tennis shoes. In addition, officers found the victim’s money and a loaded handgun on Bryant. Bryant was arrested and charged with armed robbery and other traffic- related charges. The Criminal Investigations Division is continuing the investigation.

ATTEMPT THEFT FROM AUTO: Between Dec. 21 – Dec. 22, unknown suspect(s) removed all of the lug nuts from a car parked on Kings Wharf Place in Waldorf. It appeared the suspect(s) tried to steal the tires but fled for unknown reasons. PFC J. Foster is investigating.

BURGLARY: On Dec. 20 between 6 a.m. – 9 a.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a house in the 3700 block of Mt. Pleasant Road in Waldorf and stole game systems and cash. Officers canvassed the area and found a vacant house nearby had also been broken into. Officer P. Morgan is investigating.

OFFICERS LINK SUSPECT TO BURGLARY: On Dec. 13 at 3:16 p.m., officers stopped a suspicious male in front of a game store in Waldorf. A computer check revealed the subject, Marlon Obryan Williams, 20, of Waldorf, had four open warrants. A search of Williams’ backpack revealed a game console, multiple electronic games and several pieces of jewelry. Officers immediately recognized the items as property that had been reported stolen a day earlier from a house in the 10000 block of Ashford Circle. Officers continued investigating and learned Williams’ was possibly keeping stolen goods at a nearby vacant house. Officers responded to the house and found other property that had been previously reported as stolen including a firearm. Williams was charged with burglary and he was served the outstanding warrants. Cpl. F. Tona is continuing the investigation.
