OFFICERS APPREHEND BURGLARY SUSPECTS AND RECOVER STOLEN MERCHANDISE:
On May 5 at 4 a.m., PFC K. Lerch was conducting a patrol check when he was approached by a citizen who reported two people appeared to be breaking into a liquor store in the 2200 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf. PFC Lerch immediately broadcast the information, and he, PFC M. Bourgeois and Cpl. J. Burroughs drove towards the store. Upon arrival, officers found the glass door had been smashed and they observed a truck leaving the area of the drive-thru window. The officers blocked the truck’s path and both occupants were taken into custody. Multiple bottles of liquor and cigarette packs worth nearly $600 were recovered from the back of the truck. Quintin Edwin Mason, 54, of Washington DC, and Dalnique Shawnta Smith, 25, of Clinton, were arrested and charged with burglary, theft and destruction of property.
MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH INVOLVING SCHOOL BUS:
On May 1 at 3:27 p.m., officers responded to the area of Post Office Road at Huntington Circle in Waldorf for the report of a crash. Investigation showed the driver of a Honda Accord, 17, exited Huntington Circle onto Post Office Road without stopping at the stop sign. That vehicle struck another Honda Accord which caused the car to strike a school bus with 16 people on board. There were no obvious signs of injury, however one student was treated and released for a minor complaint. The 17-year-old driver was charged with failing to stop at a stop sign PFC P. McPherson investigated.
