What first looked like food to customs and border protection officers at Washington Dulles International Airport over the weekend turns out to be drugs.
Officials say the cocaine was stuffed inside the double walls of the jars, filled with stew. The man, who requested entry as a courier on business, arrived on a flight from El Salvador. The combined weight of the two plastic bags of cocaine was a little over 1 kilogram, or 2 pounds, 4 ounces.
After extensive interviews, the man was not criminally charged. He did express fear to return to Guatemala and was held, scheduled for an interview with an asylum officer.
