The Virginia Court of Appeals denies the appeal of former Culpeper police officer Daniel Harmon-Wright,convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the 2012 shooting death of an unarmed woman.
His attorney had challenged the conviction on grounds of double jeopardy and insufficient evidence. The court decided that from viewing the offenses in their own terms, it cannot be any clearer that the two have distinct elements of proof.
