Another phone scam in the area and this one seems real enough to be tricking more people than normal.
Fredericksburg Sheriff Paul Higgs says people are getting calls from a man claiming to be a city deputy and accusing them of missing court. He threatens them with a "bench warrant," but tells them they can avoid being arrested if they send money to pay a fine. It seems even more real that usual, because he's using names of real city deputies.
