Two suspects have been arrested for their involvement in the recent burglaries and thefts from the College Heights Swim Club, the Woehrle & Franklin Law office, and Roxbury Mills. The first two reported incidents at the swim facility occurred between June 14 and June 17, and the club was burglarized a third time on June 20. The burglaries at the law office and Roxbury Mills were committed during the overnight hours and reported on June 24 and June 25.
Twin brothers Joshua and Isaac Franklin, 18, were arrested early this morning and each charged with five counts of burglary, three counts of grand larceny, and two counts of misdemeanor larceny. Detectives also served a search warrant this morning and seized evidence from a home in the 600 block of Lafayette Boulevard. The Franklin suspects are currently incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
ARRESTS:
Jack Mullins, 22, of Stafford was arrested for felony shoplifting from Home depot.
Felder Smith, 30, of Falmouth was arrested for embezzlement.
Marilyn Brown, 55, of no fixed address was arrested for trespassing.
Duane Graves, 45, of no fixed address was arrested for public intoxication and illegal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

ATTEMPT ROBBERY/ASSAULT: On June 25 at 1:36 p.m., officers responded to the park and ride at Smallwood Drive West in Waldorf for the report of an attempt robbery. The victim stated he was waiting for a bus when two suspects approached and demanded money. The victim refused and the suspects assaulted him and fled the scene without obtaining money. One suspect is described as a white male in his teens to early twenties and the second suspect is described as a black male in his teens to early twenties. STRONG - ARM ROBBERY: On June 24 at 1 a.m., officers responded to the area of St. Patrick’s Drive and Smallwood Drive in Waldorf for the report of a strong-arm robbery. Investigation revealed two 16-year-old males were leaving a convenience store when they were approached by a group of teenage males who assaulted them and stole a shirt, pants and shoes from one victim. THEFT: On June 23, between 1 a.m. – 2:30 a.m., unknown suspects stole the wheels off of a 2006 Dodge Charger on Michele Court in Bryans Road. Officer D. Benthin is investigating.
THEFTS FROM MOTOR VEHICLES: On June 22, during the overnight hours, unknown suspects broke into several cars on Bethesda Drive and Pinewood Drive in Waldorf. An iPod was stolen from one car, money and sunglasses from other vehicles. Some of the car owners reported leaving their cars unlocked. POI C. Garner is investigating.
BICYCLE STOLEN: Between June 20 - June 21, unknown suspect(s) stole a red and black Schwinn bicycle from the 4000 block of Night Heron Court in Waldorf. The bike had been locked with a cable but the suspects managed to remove the cable. PFC L. Sershen is investigating.

Virginia Wine Experience, 826 Caroline St, 6/16 – 6/18 8:00 pm. The business owner reported that a credit card was stolen from her purse, and she later discovered that the card had been used to make purchases at unknown locations. The investigation is ongoing.
Blue Shark Antiques, 904 Caroline St, 6/19 1:15 pm. An employee reported that a male subject stole three books from the store and left the scene on a bicycle. No known suspects at this time.
300 block Charlotte St, 6/19 1:00 pm. A resident reported that the year of expiration decals were stolen from his vehicle license plates. No suspects or witnesses at this time.
BURGLARY: On June 18 between 4:20 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a house in the 4000 block of Crowbill Court in Waldorf and stole electronic items, DVDs and video games. Officer D. Gehrman is investigating.
BURGLARY: On June 17 at 2:55 a.m., an unknown suspect broke into a house in the
2100 block of Fawn Court in Waldorf. A resident heard a noise from the back of his house and when he investigated, he observed a black male in dark clothing standing near a couch where an adult female was sleeping. The suspect fled upon being detected. Officers discovered the back door had been left unlocked. Officer J. Hornickel is investigating.
BURGLARY: Between June 12 – June 13, unknown suspect(s) cut a hole in a screened in porch of a house in the 9400 block of Trinity Church Road in Charlotte Hall and stole jewelry and cigarettes. The burglary wasn't noticed until the morning of June 15 when the victim discovered her cigarettes missing. The scene was processed and evidence was recovered. A similar burglary occurred at a neighboring home last week. Officer C. Figgins is investigating.

BURGLARY/THEFT: Sometime between 7:10 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. June 12, suspect(s) forced entry into a residence in the 1600 block of Debra Drive in Waldorf and stole a video game system, an iPod and loose change and fled undetected. THEFT: On June 13 at 8:40 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 3600 block of Mt. Pleasant Road in Waldorf for the report of a theft in progress. A witness had reported seeing three male suspects preparing to steal an automotive lift. When officers arrived, they observed the suspects loading the lift onto a trailer. The investigation revealed William Robert Yates, 60, of Waldorf is acquainted with the victim and was responsible for the theft attempt. The other two suspects were not aware the property was being stolen. Officers arrested Yates and charged with him with theft valued between $1,000 and $10,000. Yates was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Cpl. J. R. Elliott investigated.
THEFT: On June 13 at 4:40 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Meadow Place in Waldorf for the reported motor vehicle theft attempt. A male suspect was in the victim’s vehicle when he heard shouts from a witness who said she was calling the police. The suspect ran from the vehicle and was quickly followed by a white passenger car, which had been parked in the spot next to the victim’s vehicle. A short distance away, the passenger car stopped and the suspect got inside. The suspects and car’s occupants then fled the area. The initial suspect was described as a black male between 18 and 25 years old. The white passenger car was described as a newer model vehicle, possibly a Toyota. THEFT: Sometime between 9 p.m. June 12 and 5 a.m. June 13, suspect(s) shattered the windshield and passenger-side windows of a vehicle parked in the 11500 block of Timberbrook Drive in Waldorf. The suspect(s) stole a piece of luggage from the backseat before fleeing the scene. THEFT: On June 12 at 1:12 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to JB Robinson Jewelers located at 11110 Mall Circle in Waldorf for the reported theft. The investigation revealed a male suspect asked a sales associate to show him a pair of earrings. When the sales associate brought out the earrings, the suspect grabbed them and fled from the store and out of the mall from the exit near the Ruby Tuesday’s restaurant. The suspect was described as a black male between 18 and 21 years of age with a trimmed beard and braces on his teeth. He was wearing blue jeans and a black jacket. VEHICLE INTO BUILDING: On June 10 at 2:33 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Commerce Liquors located at 11916 Business Park Drive in Waldorf for the report of a vehicle that had crashed through the building. The investigation revealed a 2005 Toyota Camry entered the parking lot and struck the front of the building after the driver failed to stop. The driver, Carolyn Linda Hamilton, 61, of Forestville, sustained minor injuries and was treated and released by Emergency Medical Services personnel at the scene. The occupant of the store, a clerk, was uninjured. A building inspector found no structural damage but the business was closed as result of electrical damages and other damages to the glass front exterior. Officer J. Kelly investigated.
PROPERTY DESTRUCTION: The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of property crimes in which suspect(s) have shattered the windows of vehicles parked at various locations in Waldorf by shooting what officers believe to be a BB or airsoft gun.
Most recently, the suspect(s) shot the windows out of four vehicles sometime between 11 p.m. June 7 and 7 a.m. June 8 in the Deerwood and Hampshire neighborhoods in Waldorf. Similar incidents occurred on May 29 on Garner Ave., at the St. Charles Town Center and at the Ken Dixon Chevrolet dealership; on May 30 at Enterprise Leasing and Mr. Muffler; and on June 6 at the Home Depot. Witnesses in each case described the possible suspect vehicle as a dark green or dark blue Toyota Corolla missing its right hubcap.

STRONG-ARM ROBBERY ATTEMPT: On June 11 at 10:14 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 900 block of Sloan Ave. in Waldorf for the reported assault. The investigation revealed the male victim was walking in the 300 block of Smallwood Drive when two male suspects accosted him. The suspects demanded the victim’s property and when the victim tried to push one of the suspects away, the suspects punched him and struck him with an unidentified object before fleeing the scene. BURGLARY: On June 11 at 2:15 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to HH Gregg located at 3000 Festival Way in Waldorf after witnesses called police to report a man kicking and punching the business’s front doors. When Officer K. Lerch arrived and confronted the man, the man turned around, made a growling noise, resumed kicking the doors and began to spit on them. The officer approached the man and the man advanced toward the officer aggressively but Officer Lerch and additional officers who had arrived on the scene managed to subdue and handcuff the man. During the subsequent investigation, officers discovered the man had ripped two electrical outlets from the outside wall near the front doors. The man, who is Hispanic, was speaking only in Spanish, did not have identification and was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, refused to provide his name to the investigating officers. Officer Lerch transported the man to the Charles County Detention Center, where the man would be formally charged with fourth-degree burglary, property destruction, being intoxicated and endangering property, and disorderly conduct. At the Detention Center, the CCSO called for a Spanish-speaking interpreter, who spoke with the man via telephone. The man provided the interpreter with a name – Eliseas Pena – and a birthplace of El Salvador but after the interpreter rejected the man’s attempt to bribe the interpreter with marijuana, the man refused to provide additional information. The man was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
BURGLARY: On June 10 at 11:50 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Copperfield Court in Waldorf for the reported burglary in progress. Officers arrived at the residence and discovered five teenage and young adult suspects inside. Two of the suspects fled but officers gave chase and apprehended one of them. The three additional suspects remained at the scene. The four suspects who were apprehended were charged with third-degree burglary. Shameka Michelle Neal, 18, was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a District Court Commissioner. Two girls, ages 15 and 16, and a 15-year-old boy – were charged as juveniles. Officers identified the suspect who fled and charges against him are pending. The suspects are all Waldorf residents. THEFT: On June 9 at 8 p.m. Charles County Sheriff’s Officer R. Bagley responded to a residence in the 2100 block of Fairchild Court in Waldorf for the reported theft of a basketball hoop that had been at the edge of the driveway. Earlier, another officer saw people playing basketball at a residence on another street in the neighborhood, Chapelside Court. Officer Bagley responded to the Chapelside Court residence and confirmed that the basketball hoop there belonged to the victim. The officer identified the suspect who stole the basketball hoop as a 16-year-old Brandywine boy and will charge him with theft.
ASSAULT: On June 8 at 5:03 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to White Oak Park in the area of English Oak Court and Holm Oak Drive in Waldorf for the reported assault. The investigation revealed the victim, a 49-year-old man, confronted the accused – later identified as David Aaron Wallace, 38, of La Plata – after Wallace yelled an ethnically offensive remark to the victim’s daughter. Wallace pushed the victim, brandished a knife and advanced toward him. Wallace attempted to cut the victim but the victim managed to avoid injury. When Wallace attempted to cut the victim again, the victim raised his bicycle to deflect the attack. The knife slashed the bicycle tire and Wallace then fled the scene. Shortly thereafter, officers identified Wallace as the suspect and found him at a residence in La Plata where they apprehended him. Wallace was charged with first-degree assault and property destruction and was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
BURGLARY/THEFT: Sometime between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. June 8, suspect(s) entered a residence in the 9500 block of Trinity Church Road in La Plata through an unsecured window and stole jewelry. THEFT: On June 8 about 5:30 a.m., suspect(s) stole the right rear wheel cap from a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe parked in the 11300 block of Stony Cove Drive in Waldorf and fled the scene. The wheels, which were secured with wheel locks, were not stolen. ASSAULT: On June 8 at 12:13 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers were attempting to remove a disorderly woman from the T.G.I. Fridays located at 2990 Waldorf Market Place in Waldorf when a man acquainted with the woman became disorderly and hit one of the officers. When the officers attempted to arrest the man, the man resisted. One of the officers deployed a Taser, subdued the man and took him into custody. The man was identified as Chavalier Maurice Sykes, 29, of Port Tobacco. Sykes was charged with assaulting a police officer, disorderly conduct and failing to obey a lawful order and was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a District Court Commissioner. He and one of the officers were treated for minor injuries. Officer C. Smith investigated.

100 block Farrell Ln, 6/9 – 6/10 9:00 am. A resident reported that her rear sliding glass door
was shattered, apparently by BB shot. No suspects or witnesses at this time.
300 block Progress St, 6/11 1:00 pm – 3:20 pm. A Spotsylvania resident reported that a
window on her vehicle was smashed. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

CCSO DETECTIVES SEEK IDENTITY OF ROBBERY SUSPECT/ CRIME SOLVERS OFFERING CASH REWARD: Charles County Sheriff’s detectives are seeking the identity of a man wanted in connection with a citizen robbery that occurred near Lakewood Place at Sweetbriar Place in Waldorf. Detectives believe the suspect’s description is distinct and want anyone with information about a possible identity to call. On June 1 at 12 p.m., the victim was walking in the neighborhood when a lone male approached her from behind. He displayed a knife and demanded the victim’s property. The victim complied and the suspect fled.
The suspect is described as a black male, 20’s, 5’10, thin build and a deep voice. At the time of the robbery, the suspect had long, waist-length dreadlocks. He was wearing a white tank top and blue jeans and appeared to have poor hygiene.

THEFT: Between June 4 – June 6, unknown suspect(s) stole two bicycles which were in the front of a garage in the 5700 block of Ripley Park Drive in La Plata. A silver colored men’s style Schwinn mountain bike and a woman’s pink and white mountain bike were stolen. PFC P. McDonald is investigating.

It has been determined that the robbery that was reported at the Petsmart on May 28 did not occur. The investigation is ongoing regarding possible charges against the reporting party.
BURGLARY:
Medicorps Medical Building, 2216 Princess Anne St, 6/4 - 6/5 7:00 am. Office managers reported that cash was stolen from three different locked offices inside the building. There were no signs of forced entry to any of the suites. The investigation is ongoing.
LARCENY:
3300 block Fall Hill Ave, 6/5 9:55 am - 10:45 am. A resident reported that the window on her vehicle was shattered and her wallet and cell phone were stolen from inside the car. No suspects or witnesses at this time.
***There have been several reports of thefts from vehicles and vandalisms in the past few weeks at the above parking lot, which is located adjacent to the canal path on Fall Hill Avenue and across from the Virginia Outdoor Center. Users of the path are urged not to leave any valuables inside your cars!!***
BP Gas, 1901 Princess Anne St, 6/5 5:00 am - 6:00 am. The owner reported that an unknown person broke the back window out of a motor home and stole the portable generator from inside the vehicle. No suspects or witnesses at this time.
Dollar Tree, 3061 Plank Rd, 6/5 4:30 pm. A Spotsylvania resident reported that her wallet was stolen from her shopping cart while she was loading items into her car. One of the victim's credit cards was later used to make purchases at an area store. The investigation is ongoing.
Chipotle, 3051 Plank Rd, 6/5 2:00 pm - 2:30 pm. A Spotsylvania resident reported that his iPad was stolen from his unsecured vehicle. No suspects or witnesses at this time.
VANDALISM:
1000 block Kensington Cir, 6/4 - 6/5 9:00 am. A homeowner reported that an unknown person damaged the swing set in the back yard. No suspects or witnesses at this time.
ARRESTS:
Michael McKinney, 43, of Fredericksburg was arrested for public intoxication.
Martinez Wright, 22, of Fredericksburg was arrested for domestic assault and battery.
On June 2, 2012 at approximately 0218 hours, TFC J. Edelen was on patrol southbound Route 301 at Billingsley Road when he observed a Gold Chevy Impala traveling above the posted speed limit, 61 mph in a posted 45 mph zone. TFC Edelen initiated a traffic stop and made contact with Travis Jerrod White, 30 years of Laurel, MD when he detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Trooper T. Hooten arrived on the scene to assist. White was charged with speeding, possession of marijuana, with intent to distribute, and possession of paraphernalia.
STRONG - ARM ROBBERY: On May 31 at 7 p.m., four male suspects approached a man who was walking his dog in the area of Belfast Road and Kirkwood Road in Waldorf. They assaulted the man and stole his cell phone. Witnesses provided descriptions of the suspects and officers located a group of teens matching the suspects’ descriptions a short distance away. Officers are pursuing leads in the case. The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating.
BURGLARY: Between May 30 – May 31, unknown suspect(s) broke into a business on Carnege Court in Waldorf and stole several power cords. Cpl D. Belfield is investigating.
THEFT: Between May 25 – May 27, unknown suspect(s) stole copper piping from a vacant house in the 11600 block of Marston Moor Lane in La Plata. Officer C. Figgins is investigating.
