ASSAULT: On Dec. 27 at 9:46 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to a residence in the 3200 block of Manning Court in Waldorf for the reported assault involving a weapon. The investigation revealed Lyshae Angela Anderson-Hardin, 20, of Waldorf told the victim, a 21-year-old Hughesville man, to meet her at her residence to discuss the circumstances of a previous event involving the victim's use of her car. When the victim arrived at the house, the woman confronted him outside with a knife. The victim managed to wrestle the knife away from the woman, who then struck the victim multiple times in his face. As a result of the investigation, Anderson-Hardon was arrested and charged with first-degree assault. She was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Officer P. Morgan investigated.
BURGLARY: On Dec. 27 at 1:15 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to a vacant residence in the 11600 block of Kipling Drive in Waldorf for the reported theft in progress. When officers were en route, police communications dispatched a the description of a white male wearing a dark-colored peacoat who was stealing the HVAC unit behind the residence. Officers arrived on the scene and discovered a rear door was unsecured. As Officer C. Shaw and his K9 partner entered the residence, one suspect, later identified as Elmer William Pessagno, 21, of no fixed address, surrendered to police. Officers continued searching the residence and found a second suspect, Michael Johnathon Bennett, 25, of no fixed address, hiding in a bedroom. The investigated revealed the suspects had forced entry into the residence, stripped the copper wire from the AC unit, and destroyed walls to access and steal electrical wiring. The suspects were charged with theft. Officer J. Kelly investigated.
THEFTS FROM MOTOR VEHICLES: Sometime between 10 p.m. Dec. 26 and 5 a.m. Dec. 27, suspect(s) entered several unlocked vehicles on Williamsburg Drive and Doris Drive in the Pinefield neighborhood in Waldorf and stole money, headphones, a flashlight and a camera. Officers canvassed the area and confirmed six thefts. However, it appears the suspect(s) rifled through additional vehicles but officers were unable to make contact with the owners of those vehicles. BURGLARY: On Dec. 27 at 8 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to Kenny's Auto Parts located at 5900 Race Car Place in La Plata for the reported theft. The investigation revealed suspect(s) forced entry onto the property, which is surrounded by a locked gate, and stole the radiators from 30 used cars. The suspect(s) also forced entry into the business's shop and stole a welder, a power washer and other tools. DRUG POSSESSION: On Dec. 26 at 10:45 p.m., Officers J. Morales and R. Kimble of the Charles County Sheriff's Office were conducting a plain-clothes assignment in Waldorf when they discovered an occupied vehicle sitting stationary with it s lights on in a parking lot in the 3500 block of Crain Highway, an area known for drug activity. The officers approached the vehicle and immediately detected the odor of burnt marijuana. Their investigation revealed the occupant, later identified as Brandon Malcom Robbs, 20, of Waldorf, was in possession of marijuana. Robbs was charged with possession of marijuana and was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
ROBBERY ARREST: On Dec. 17 at 7:45 p.m., the Charles County Sheriff's Office responded to Cricket Wireless located at 11750 Business Park Drive in Waldorf for the reported armed robbery. The initial investigation revealed a suspect had robbed the business and two employees at gunpoint. Detectives later identified the suspect as Brandon Antwon Leach, 26, of Waldorf and obtained a warrant for Leach's arrest on Dec. 21. On Dec. 26 at 9:30 a.m., detectives, patrol officers, the Warrant/Fugitive Unit and a K9 team located Leach at his Waldorf residence and served the warrant, which charges him with armed robbery. Leach was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Det. A. Celia investigated.

OFFICERS ARREST ROBBERY SUSPECTS: On Dec. 21 at 4:10 p.m., officers responded to the 4700 block of Sheffield Court in Waldorf for the report of a robbery. The victim, an 18-year-old male, made arrangements, via social networking, to sell a pair of tennis shoes to an acquaintance. The buyer, Derrick Renaldo Pitts, 18, of La Plata, drove to the victim’s house with two males to make the purchase. During the transaction - which was conducted inside Pitts’ car - one of the males pulled out a firearm and demanded the victim’s tennis shoes and money. The victim complied and the suspects fled. The victim called 911 to report the incident. A description of the suspect’s car was broadcast and shortly thereafter, Cpl. C. Strafella observed the vehicle near Crain Highway and St. Patrick’s Drive. A traffic stop was initiated and Pitts – who was alone at the time - was arrested and charged in connection with the robbery. Evidence relating to the robbery was found in his vehicle. As a result of Pitts’ arrest, officers soon identified the gunman in the robbery as Antonio Malachi Bryant, 20, of La Plata. Bryant was located at 10:45 p.m. after a La Plata Town police officer stopped him for speeding on Charles Street. At the time of the traffic stop, officers noticed Bryant was wearing the victim’s stolen tennis shoes. In addition, officers found the victim’s money and a loaded handgun on Bryant. Bryant was arrested and charged with armed robbery and other traffic- related charges. The Criminal Investigations Division is continuing the investigation.
ATTEMPT THEFT FROM AUTO: Between Dec. 21 – Dec. 22, unknown suspect(s) removed all of the lug nuts from a car parked on Kings Wharf Place in Waldorf. It appeared the suspect(s) tried to steal the tires but fled for unknown reasons. PFC J. Foster is investigating.
BURGLARY: On Dec. 20 between 6 a.m. – 9 a.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a house in the 3700 block of Mt. Pleasant Road in Waldorf and stole game systems and cash. Officers canvassed the area and found a vacant house nearby had also been broken into. Officer P. Morgan is investigating.
OFFICERS LINK SUSPECT TO BURGLARY: On Dec. 13 at 3:16 p.m., officers stopped a suspicious male in front of a game store in Waldorf. A computer check revealed the subject, Marlon Obryan Williams, 20, of Waldorf, had four open warrants. A search of Williams’ backpack revealed a game console, multiple electronic games and several pieces of jewelry. Officers immediately recognized the items as property that had been reported stolen a day earlier from a house in the 10000 block of Ashford Circle. Officers continued investigating and learned Williams’ was possibly keeping stolen goods at a nearby vacant house. Officers responded to the house and found other property that had been previously reported as stolen including a firearm. Williams was charged with burglary and he was served the outstanding warrants. Cpl. F. Tona is continuing the investigation.
DUI CHECKPOINT AND SATURATION PATROLS YIELD ARRESTS: As part of a continuous effort to prevent impaired driving, officers assigned to the CCSO Traffic Operations Unit conducted a DUI checkpoint on Friday, Dec. 21, between 9 p.m. – 1 a.m. at St. Charles Parkway at Gallery Place in Waldorf. In addition, patrol officers assisted by saturating the area with roving patrols focused on traffic enforcement. During the checkpoint, 322 cars were stopped. Of those, no one was found to be under the influence of alcohol; however, five people were charged in connection with drug-related offenses. During one traffic stop, officers found 14 baggies of suspected marijuana inside a car and arrested Michael Andrew Howard, 25, of Waldorf and Keith Darren Glover, 24, of Washington, D.C. In another stop, officers found suspected marijuana, unauthorized prescription pills, a machete and a butterfly knife inside the vehicle. Abram Joseph Harris, Jr., 19, of Waldorf and Stefan Conrad Gyuras, 20, of Waldorf, and a 17-year-old female of Waldorf were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by an underage person. Additionally, Harris was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon. A total of 12 citations, 12 warnings and 11 equipment repair orders were issued during the checkpoint.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On Dec. 19 between 6 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke the frame to a rear door of a garage in the 800 block of Stavors Road in Waldorf. Entry was not made inside the garage and at this point, nothing was reported stolen. Officer N. Garner is investigating.
OFFICERS LOCATE STOLEN PROPERTY: On Dec. 19 at 12:45 p.m., officers responded to the 6100 block of Bivens Place in La Plata after a man reported finding a power washer that belonged to him; the washer had been stolen from his house during a burglary. Officers R. Snyder and J. Campbell canvassed the rest of the area and discovered a blue scooter in the woods. A check of the scooter’s serial number revealed the scooter had been reported stolen as well. The officers tracked down the owners of the scooter and returned the property to them. The investigation is on-going.
BURGLARY: On Dec. 18 between 7:05 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a house in the 11000 block of Commanders Lane in White Plains and stole a computer, jewelry and other valuables. Officers canvassed the area and located a few witnesses who reported seeing two juveniles riding their bikes earlier that day in the area where the burglary occurred. BURGLARY: On Dec. 18 between 11:15 a.m. – 1 p.m., unknown suspects broke into a house in the 6100 block of Starview Place in La Plata and stole two shotguns and a handgun. Officers canvassed the area and witnesses reported seeing a newer model red car and a green car riding slowly through the area between the times the burglary occurred. PFC K. On December 19, 2012 at approximately 1740 hours, TFC. M. Newman responded to The LaPlata Walmart, LaPlata, MD to assist Cpl. Posey of the LaPlata Police Department for a possible theft in progress and attempt to locate a wanted subject.
TFC. Newman arrived with Cpl. Posey and the possible suspects had already left the store. It was determined one of the suspects was Samantha Marie Shadrick. An NCIC check was conducted and revealed she had several open warrants in Charles and St. Mary's County. A lookout was broadcasted for a white Chevrolet pickup truck as the suspect vehicle.
Another lookout was given approximately five minutes later stating the suspects were now at the Target Store in LaPlata. TFC. Newman responded to the Target with Cpl. Posey. A white Chevrolet truck matching the description was leaving the area. Cpl. Posey and TFC Newman initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle.
TFC. Newman made contact with the passengers of the vehicle while Cpl. Posey spoke with the driver. The rear passenger was a white female matching the physical characteristics of Samantha Shadrick. TFC Newman asked Mrs. Shadrick to exit the vehicle and noticed she was deliberately taking her time by ignoring his commands. Mrs. Shadrick exited the vehicle and TFC. Newman noticed her left hand was balled into a fist. Mrs. Shadrick was asked to open her hand and she refused to open it. She quickly put her hand up to her mouth and attempted to swallow a suspected controlled Dangerous substance. Shadrick refused to spit out the items. She was taken into custody and Shadrick was observed spitting out three white oblong pills (Suspected) CDS . Shadrick attempted to assault TFC Newman by kicking him in the leg and then began screaming profanities. Mrs. Shadrick was confirmed wanted by the Charles County Sheriff's Office for Two open warrants of Theft Less $1000, and One Second Degree Assault warrant. Mrs. Shadrick also had an open criminal summons for Theft Less $1000. An additional check revealed Mrs. Shadrick had two more open warrants through the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office.
Mrs. Shadrick was transported to the Charles County Detention Center and charged with Disorderly Conduct, Second Degree Assault-Law Enforcement, and Possession of CDS not marijuana.

STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On Dec. 17 at 10:30 p.m., a woman was walking in the 6800 block of Matthews Road in Bryans Road when three males approached, grabbed her purse from her hands and fled. The woman, who was not injured, called police. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence. Officer N. Bledsoe is investigating.
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY: On Dec. 17 at 7:45 p.m., a male suspect entered Cricket Wireless in the 11700 block of Business Park Drive in Waldorf, jumped the counter, showed a gun and demanded money. The clerk complied and the suspect fled, possibly in a dark-colored vehicle. Det. A. Celia is investigating.
SHOPLIFTER THREATENS LOSS PREVENTION OFFICER: On Dec. 15 at 3:30 p.m., a male suspect entered a grocery store in the area of King Street in Waldorf and concealed 19 bottles of baby formula. A loss prevention officer attempted to stop the suspect but the suspect pulled a knife and fled, possibly in a dark-colored Ford F150 with front-end damage. The suspect is described as a black male, mid-thirties, with a tear drop tattoo under his left eye. At the time of the theft, he was wearing a black jacket over top a black and white jersey, blue jeans and a black beanie hat. Officer A. Duckett is investigating.

McDonald’s, 1212 Jefferson Davis Hwy, 12/11 12:45 pm. The victim reported his briefcase and notebook computer had been stolen from his unsecured vehicle in the parking lot. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time.
Wal-Mart, 1800 Carl D. Silver Pkwy, 12/11 12:27 pm. A loss prevention employee reported that a male subject walked out without paying for a TV he placed in his shopping cart. The suspect was described as white male in his 30s wearing a black jacket and jeans. The investigation is ongoing.
1300-block Caroline St, 12/12 9:00 pm. The victim reported that her neighbor witnessed two subjects remove the bike rack from her porch. The neighbor described the subjects as a dark skinned black male wearing a gray sweatshirt under a dark colored jacket and a light skinned, heavy set black female wearing a plaid jacket. The two suspects left the area in an orange and white 70’s model van with farm use tags. The investigation is ongoing.
VANDALISM:
100-block Princess Anne St, 12/12 5:45 pm. The victim reported that his apartment window had been broken. No suspects or witnesses at this time.
600-block Littlepage St, 12/12 3:30 pm. The victim reported that both of her passenger side tires had been slashed while her vehicle was parked on the street. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

NEIGHBOR CALLS 911 FOR BURGLARY IN PROGRESS/POLICE APPREHEND THREE SUSPECTS AND RECOVER PROPERTY: On Dec. 12 at 11:02 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 7600 block of Logging Lane in Nanjemoy for the report of a burglary in progress. A witness reported seeing three males force entry into a neighbor’s house.
Patrol officers responded and determined the suspects were still inside. The suspects were apprehended as they attempted to flee from the residence. After investigating further, detectives linked the suspects to a previous burglary that occurred on Dec. 4 in the 5700 block of Port Tobacco Road. Property stolen during that burglary - which included handguns - was recovered from one of the suspects’ homes. One suspect is 15-years old, another suspect is 17-years old and a third suspect is a 19-year-old male. They were charged with burglary. Detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division are looking into the possibility the suspects could be connected to additional crimes and the investigation is on-going.
TIP TO STUDENT CRIME SOLVERS PROGRAM LEADS TO RECOVERY OF DRUGS: On Dec, 12 at 1 p.m., PFC DePaulo of the CCSO School Resource Unit received a tip from the Student Crime Solvers program that two 12-year-old males at Mattawoman Middle School were possibly in possession of marijuana. Upon further investigation, suspected marijuana was discovered in the students’ lockers. The students were charged as juveniles with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and released to their parents.
OFFICERS APPREHEND MAN INVOLVED IN ASSAULT AND VISUAL SURVEILLANCE WITH PRURIENT INTENT: On Dec. 11 at 3:18 p.m., officers were called to B.J.’s Wholesale Foods in the 1000 block of St. Nicholas Drive in Waldorf for an assault. Investigation showed a woman was standing in the aisle when she felt something on her leg. When she looked, she saw the suspect, Kevin Edward Harvey, 25, of Washington, D.C., holding a camera underneath her dress and attempting to take a picture. The woman yelled and Harvey fled but was apprehended by security officers and CCSO officers who were in the area. Harvey initially told officers his name was Alvern Harris but a fingerprint check revealed Harvey was his true identity. Harvey was charged with second-degree assault, visual surveillance with prurient intent and providing a false name to a law enforcement officer. Officer N. Garner is investigating.
BURGLARY: On Dec. 12 between 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., unknown suspect(s) pried open a rear door of a house in the 1000 block of Ashford Circle in Waldorf and stole game systems, jewelry and a handgun. Cpl. F. Tona is investigating.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY REPORTED: On Dec. 12 between 6:45 a.m. – 2:50 p.m., unknown suspect(s) attempted to pry open the door to an apartment in the 2600 block of Husk Place in Waldorf. Officers found evidence of pry marks and part of the door frame was damaged. POI N. Garner is investigating.
THEFT: On Dec. 12 between 9:50 a.m. – 1 p.m., unknown suspect(s) stole game systems, games, and cash from a house in the 3200 block of Indian King Court in Indian Head. There were no signs of forced entry. POI J. Hatfield is investigating.
BURGLARY: On Dec. 12 between 1:30 a.m. – 1:36 a.m., unknown suspect(s) shattered the front glass door to the Truevalue Dollar Store in the 8000 block of Matthews Road in Bryans Road and stole packs of cigarettes. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence. Pfc T. Smith is investigating.
BURGLARY: Between Dec. 7 – Dec. 11, unknown suspect(s) broke into a house in the area of Dunmore Court in Waldorf and stole jewelry. POII B. Kunz is investigating.

Special Alert: The CCSO is reminding citizens who own cars with expensive wheels and rims to take precautions with their property. Several incidents of wheel and rim thefts have been reported recently. The thefts usually occur overnight and can take just a few minutes to complete. In most cases, the suspects lift the car with a jack, quickly remove the tires and leave the vehicles on cinder blocks, bricks or landscaping stones. The suspects may be driving pick-up trucks, utility trucks and in some cases, mini vans. There are some things vehicle owners can do to help deter these thefts: use lug locks; park in a well-lighted area; consider a car alarm; and, as always, if you see something suspicious, say something and call the Sheriff’s Office immediately.
THEFT: Between Dec. 5 – Dec. 5, during the overnight hours, unknown suspect(s) stole four tires and rims from an Infiniti parked in the 3500 block of Promenade Place in Waldorf. PO R. Gass is investigating.
BURGLARY: On Dec. 5 between 3:30 p.m. – 8:15 p.m., unknown suspect(s) forced open a front door to a house in the 400 block of University Drive in Waldorf and stole electronics and shoes. POI R. Walls is investigating.
THEFT: Between Dec. 4 – Dec. 5, unknown suspects stole four wheels and rims from a car parked in the 11700 block of Acton Lane in Waldorf. PFC J. Morales is investigating.
R.R.E. (RACIAL/RELIGIOUS/ETHNIC) CRIME: On Dec. 4 between 4 a.m. – 4:30 a.m., several suspects used bottled snow spray and sprayed racial slurs on a sign and on the side of a shed in a mobile park in the 12000 block of Gillespie Circle in Waldorf. Officers have leads and arrests are pending the outcome of the investigation. POI V. Warker is investigating.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: On Dec. 4 between 6:30 a.m. – 3 p.m., unknown suspect(s) attempted to gain entry into a house in the 5700 block of Port Tobacco Road in La Plata. Entry was not gained but a window and locking mechanism were damaged. PFC D. Benthin is investigating.
