BOWLING GREEN, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police say a Maryland resident faces five felony charges after a two-vehicle crash that killed one and injured four other members of a Fredericksburg family.
Sgt. Thomas Molnar says 51-year-old Valerie F. Gorham of Silver Springs was charged Wednesday with one count of involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence and four counts of maiming while driving under the influence.
Police say 48-year-old Lucia Chavez was killed early Wednesday morning when the car in which she was riding was hit by Gorham's car, which was going the wrong way on Interstate 95 in Caroline County. The other four family members were taken to a hospital with serious but non-live-threatening injuries.
Gorham escaped serious injury.
