Disaster Preparedness Month here in Virginia

In just over a year, nearly every Virginian has experienced the effects of tornadoes, the historic east coast earthquake, a hurricane, tropical storm and the June Derecho wind storm.
The effects were devastating for many and Karl Neddenien with Dominion Virginia Power says during this National Emergency Preparedness month, families should plan for future disasters.
It is also a good time for families to develop and practice an emergency plan and build a kit to survive in a disaster for up to three days.
More tips are available at www.dom.com. There is even a site to help teach kids ages 8 through 12 about how they can help at ready.gov/kids.
