More tolls on the way to roads in Virginia will likely mean some changes for EZ Pass customers.
An extra $1 a month fee could be on the way to the accounts of EZ Pass customers in Virginia. More tolls are on the way for Virginia drivers from the planned Midtown tunnel near Newport News, the I-495 express lanes and possibly south of Fredericksburg on I-95. VDOT Spokeswoman Tamara Rollinson says they project the changes will double the EZ Pass business in the coming months and years. The fee will help cover their added administrative costs and purchase of new transponders.
Public comments will be accepted through www.virginiadot.org/ezpass.
