Easy Wins for Virginia Incumbents; a Major Upset in Culpeper

There are several key Congressional races the region that were at stake on election day.
Major wins for the incumbents on both sides of the aisle in Virginia Tuesday. In less than an hour after polls closed, the Associated Press declared Eric Cantor the unofficial winner in the 7th district.  The AP also called the First Congressional district for a third term to incumbent Rob Wittman, who was challenged by Democrat Adam Cook and Independent Gail Parker.
In the Newport News 3rd district that represents part of Richmond, incumbent Bobby Scott is declared the winner. 
The 8th district of northern Virginia, sees a win for Democrat Jim Moran who faced off against Republican J. Patrick Murray, Independent Jason Howell and Janet Murphy.
Virginia residents also elect the state's longest serving Congressman with a win for Republican Frank Wolfe to a 17th term in northern Virginia's 10th district. 
Northern Virginia's 11th district marks a win for Gerry Connolley, defending his seat against one Republican, two Independents and two Green Party candidates. 
Locally, all of Fredericksburg reporting voted Democrat for Obama and Tim Kaine and Elizabeth Rehm will assume the District One School Board Seat.
In Stafford County it's Romney at 54% and George Allen at 53% and all precincts are in for Nanette Kidby to take the Garrisonville School Board seat.
All 16 of Culpeper's precincts reporting supported Mitt Romney with 57% of the vote and George Allen for senate with 58%. The only contested area races were there and it was a major upset for cash strong incumbent Commonwealth's Attorney Paul Walther. Independent challenger Megan Frederick wins the post with 52% of the vote. Republican Alexa Fritz beats out chllenger Sanford Reaves Jr. with 52% for the Salem  District Board of Supervisors seat.
