Fatal Train Accident in Spotsylvania Investigated

A man was hit and killed by a southbound Amtrak train around 4:00 p.m. Wednesday in Spotsylvania.
The Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office says the victim, who's age is not yet known was a white male. The train was carrying about 200 passengers and was in the middle of three tracks along Benchmark Road. The train's engineer tells police he saw the man crossing the tracks 200 yards ahead, be he did not acknowledge the train. An empty Amtrak picked up the stranded passengers and two more of its trains were also delayed. Some VRE service was also affected. 
Police are still investigating the case.
