Firefighters Put Out Blaze at Paper Mill

by AP posted May 31 2013 10:38AM
WEST POINT, Va. (AP) - A fire that engulfed stacks of recycled paper at a King William County paper is under investigation.
West Point firefighters put the blaze at the RockTenn Co. facility out in about two hours on Thursday. Officials received a call around 3 p.m. that a couple of 12-foot stacks of paper were on fire.
West Point Volunteer Fire Department Chief Andrew Smith says because the fire involved paper, the process to make sure it is completely extinguished is time consuming.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that there were no injuries and no structural damage.
