GOOCHLAND, Va. (AP) - Police have identified a Goochland woman who was killed while attempting to drive across a flooded creek.
The Buckingham County Sheriff's Office tells media outlets that deputies found 61-year-old Maureen Corle Poindexter's body inside her pickup truck on Monday. The truck was on its side and wedged against a tree, about 300 yards from a dirt driveway that crossed Grease Creek.
The sheriff's office says a preliminary investigation indicates that floodwaters disabled the truck and carried it downstream when Poindexter tried to drive across.
Poindexter's family had reported her missing on Saturday. A landowner discovered the truck and called authorities on Monday.
