Fredericksburg Police Department Incident Reports

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2013
SHOTS FIRED:
200 block Harris St, 9/4 2:15 a.m. Police responded for a report of shooting in the area and
discovered three parked and unoccupied vehicles that had been damaged by gunfire. The
unknown suspect had fled the scene prior to police arrival. The investigation is ongoing.
STOLEN VEHICLE:
1000 block Brandon Dr, 9/4 4:00 a.m. An office patrolling in the area of Fall Hill Avenue at
Carl D Silver Parkway observed an SUV leaving the Riverside Manor subdivision at a high rate
of speed and without its lights on. The officer turned around to follow the vehicle and saw it go
into the Central Park complex and then behind Bonefish Grill. The officer reached the back of
the shopping strip and found the vehicle abandoned and with the driver’s door standing open.
The registered owners of the SUV, a couple who live on Brandon Drive, were contacted by
phone. They told the dispatcher that the vehicle was supposed to be in their driveway. It was
later discovered that a handgun that had been left inside the vehicle was also missing.
A police K-9 responded to the scene and searched the surrounding areas, but the unknown
suspect was not located. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY:
ELS Language Services, 1125 Jefferson Davis Hwy, 8/30 – 9/3 10:00 a.m. A staff member
reported that an unknown person entered the office suite by forcing the door and also attempted
to gain access to the safe. Nothing was reported stolen. The investigation is ongoing.
LARCENY:
500 block Hanover St, 8/30 – 9/3 7:00 a.m. A foreman reported that an unknown person
removed the padlock and stole tools from a work van. No suspects or witnesses at this time.
Jake and Mike’s, 806 William St, 9/2 – 9/3 8:15 a.m. The owner reported that an unknown
person entered the building and stole cash from the register. The investigation is ongoing.
Colonial Motel, 1914 Princess Anne St, 9/3 2:50 p.m. – 3:40 p.m. A guest reported that an
unknown person stole his wallet from his room. No suspects or witnesses at this time.
ARRESTS:
Chad Simmons, 22, of Spotsylvania was arrested on direct indictment for possession of schedule
I,II narcotics.
Joe Thomas, 32, of Spotsylvania was arrested on a warrant from Spotsylvania charging him with
larceny.
