1200 block Jefferson Davis Hwy, 5/3 3:45 p.m. A 48-year-old King George man was shot on
Saturday afternoon in the parking lot of the Giant store at Eagle Village. The victim reported that
he arranged to meet a male subject in the parking lot for a transaction involving narcotics, but the
transaction turned into an attempted robbery. During the dispute, the victim slashed one of the
tires on the suspect's Toyota Camry, and the suspect then shot the victim in the upper torso.
The suspect got back in his car and fled from the shooting scene, striking another car exiting the
shopping center at College Avenue before heading north on U.S. Route 1.
An employee at Giant attempted to assist the victim and called 911, but the victim drove himself
to the Mary Washington Hospital Emergency department in his own vehicle, where hospital
officials also contacted police. The victim is expected to recover from his injuries.
The suspect, with a flat tire on his vehicle, turned into the Taco Bell in the Fredericksburg
Shopping Center and abandoned the Camry in the parking lot. While officers were on the scene
searching for the suspect, an employee at Advance Auto Parts in Fredericksburg Shopping
Center contacted police to report that a suspicious male had entered the store looking for help in
calling someone for a ride. Officers detained the suspicious male and took him into custody after
definitively connecting him to the abandoned Camry.
The suspect, D’Andre Vontez Caleb-Hill, 19, of Stafford was later charged with attempted
homicide, the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, unlawful shooting in public
resulting in injury, and hit and run. Caleb-Hill is incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail
under no bond.
A second suspect who was also present during the shooting incident was later identified and
located at his home in Fredericksburg. Trevor James Stevick, 18, was charged as an accessory
after the fact and he was also incarcerated under no bond.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this case should contact Detective
Betsy Mason at 540-654-5934.
