Organizations working to conserve historic battlefield land in Virginia getting some extra help from Virginia.
Governor McDonnell says 11 state grant awards are being made from the Civil War Historic Sites Preservation Fund the General Assembly established in 2010.
Funds for the grants, exceed $2 million. Among land in the 2700 acres to be protected is Chancellorsville and Second Manassas.
The grant recipients include the Civil War Trust and the Central Virginia Battlefields Trust.
