How Can You Help Fire Struck Colonial Beach Students?

by Deirdre Blake posted Jan 9 2014 6:18AM

The 280 students of Colonial Beach Elementary displaced after a fire destroyed the nearby former high school Sunday will soon be returning to school. The Colonial Beach School Board voted unanimously last night to temporarily relocate them to Oak Grove Baptist Church, about six miles from the town.
Among the fallout from this tragedy is the loss of all of the elementary school supplies for the students of that school. They are in desperate need of any type of school supplies, office supplies, copy paper, etc. Anyone connected with school divisions, they are also in need of some classroom tests or practice tests. To help directly in the area, you may call Colonial Beach High School: 804.224.7166 or the Colonial Beach School Board: 804.224.0906.
Colonial Beach native and Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith is also organizing a school supply drive through his foundation to help out. He tweeted "Colonial Beach elementary very sad…sad day…I had some great times in that building." Smith's mother helps him run the foundation at http://torreysmithfoundation.org. It provides support to at-risk youth.
