You don't have to put a new car in your budget this year if you know how to take care of the one you've got.
Every couple of weeks, or 3,000 miles, you should check the engine oil, transmission fluid and coolant. Change the oil and oil filter about every six months. Check tire pressure monthly and get them rotated every six months. Change spark plugs at least every two years. And check your brakes about every 50,000 miles.
