If You Need a Stafford Student Loan, Call Your Congressman

If you are a parent of the hundreds of local high school students planning to apply for a government-backed Stafford loan for college, you might want to contact your Congressman.
If action isn't take by them before July 1st, the 3.4 percent payback rate could jump to 6.8 percent. It could saddle future students with an impossible debt load after graduation. Locally, nearly 5,000 students use the loans every year.
