RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The State of Fair of Virginia's demise is now official.
The end came Wednesday when a federal bankruptcy judge approved a motion by the state fair's nonprofit operator to convert its Chapter 11 reorganization to a Chapter 7 liquidation. The State of Fair of Virginia Inc. said last week that it couldn't reach a financing agreement with a lender group.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that a trustee is expected to be appointed Thursday to oversee the liquidation of the fair's assets and determine how much creditors will receive.
