LATEST: Stafford' Butler Road Reopens After Water Main Break

Butler Road reopens just after 11 p.m. Thursday night after some area residents and businesses lose water access and traffic is snarled for more than five hours. A water main break is responsible for a portion of the road being closed on Thursday afternoon. On the drive Friday and beyond in the area, look out for lots of loose gravel in the area that could cause damage to your car.
The county and Stafford Sheriff's Office tell us it happens just after 4:30 p.m. The road was closed from Route 1 to Carter Street and traffic was being diverted onto Winterberry Drive, through the Clearview Heights subdivision.
Officials are investigating whether it was caused by the Falmouth Intersection project work. On Wednesday, private crews moved lines in that area and had traffic down to one lane, but finished the work a day ahead of schedule.
Stafford utility crews from the Public Works Department responded to the scene of the break on Thursday.
