Kids in Louisa County head back to class Wednesday.
Things are much improved, following the massive earthquake last year, but Superintendent Dr. Deborah Petit says the campuses will look a little different. There will still be modular classrooms and Louisa High School will make use of a vinyl style "bubble gym" for a while.
A groundbreaking to rebuild Thomas Jefferson Elementary could happen by the end of next month. Demolition of the badly damaged Louisa High School continues and some walls could come down next week. The school board is looking for an architect to help rebuild.
Amazingly, since the earthquake last August, test scores across the district did not suffer. The longer days needed before to get in hours for time lost will be no more and middle and high school students return to a regular school day, with a release at 3:15 p.m.
