The Stafford Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting death of a man who allegedly attacked another man with a knife.
It happened around 11:00 p.m. Tuesday night in the parking lot of the Earls Shopping Center. A woman called 9-1-1 to say the man she was with in a car had just shot another man that had attacked him with a knife. The individual who shot the man and the woman tell detectives they were in the car talking when two men walked up and one asked them for money. The driver said no and told them to move on. A short time later, one returned and tried to attack the man through the car window. The driver got his handgun from the glove box and fired.
29 year old Chrisopher Rigby died at the scene. The shooter has a concealed weapons license and for now, no charges have been filed.
