Fredericksburg, Virginia Fourth of July Celebration -July 4
7:45 a.m.  Heritage Festival Five-Mile Run  Begin the 4th with this U.S. Track and Field-sanctioned event, a five-mile dash through the streets of historic Fredericksburg.  Registration opens at 6:15 a.m. at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center.  The race begins near the railroad station and ends at the visitor center.  Registration forms are available at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center or Virginia Runner.  If you’re not in the race, cheer on the runners!!

9:30 a.m.  Fifth Annual Heritage Day Parade    This annual patriotic hometown parade through historic downtown Fredericksburg is a festival favorite because anyone can join in!   Organizations are encouraged to participate.   Children, decorate your bikes and join in the fun!   The parade is limited to bikes, strollers, walkers, wagons, a small contingent of Veterans motorcycle groups and antique cars, and antique rescue vehicles.

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Festival of the Streets   Live entertainment, an antique pickup truck show, great children’s activities, including free pony rides, large inflatables, PNCs Mobile Learning Adventure for 3, 4, 5 year olds, food vendors, to include Hard Times Café’s  Award-Winning Chili, and a great craft show.  There’ll be a raffle for Wii or a giant flat screen television.  Or dunk your favorite local celebrity in the dunking booth.  The Festival of the Streets has a full day of family fun.   
The Kiwanis Club will be raffling a 2009 Harley Davidson Sportster 883 and a 2nd prize of a Carnival Cruise certificate. Tickets are $10 and no more than 1,000 tickets will be sold.   Tickets are on sale now and the drawing will be held during the Festival of the Streets!   Contact Jonathan Pittman at 898-4000 for ticket information.
The Stafford Classics Car Club is presenting their second annual American Automobile Heritage Invitational during the Fredericksburg Heritage Festival.  This year the focus will be on an American icon, the pickup truck.  There will be a diverse representation of a vehicle class that is distinctively American.

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Heritage Festival Craft  Show  A myriad of interesting items in this show that gets better every year.  Jewelry, 18th century style Windsor chairs, garden items, wrought iron, caricatures, lamps, handmade furniture, soaps and lotions, soy candles, silver creations, vintage music, pottery, baskets, flowers, pillows, handbags, decoys, totes, lamps and even more crafts than we list!  More than 140 booths.

10 a.m. to 5 p.m.* Ferry Farm’s Fabulous Fourth of July
Be part of the celebration! Talk with George Washington at the place where he grew up! Interact with first-person interpreters as they perform 18th-century tasks. Re-enactors will demonstrate spinning, weaving, laundry, cooking as well as 18th-century medicine in a surgeon’s tent. Visit a Native American Indian village and listen to American Indian flutist Jim Morehouse. Play games that span five centuries and make crafts to take home. Relax and enjoy live music. Put your signature on the Declaration of Independence with a quill pen. At 1:00 p.m., Cub Scout Troop #199 of Stafford County will retire the American flag that flew over the archaeology site last year.
Enjoy a variety of good old-fashioned Fourth of July food from our vendors.
There will be limited parking on site and trolleys will run from the street festival in downtown Fredericksburg.
$2.00 per person ages 3 and up. Children under 3 are free.
*Enjoy games, face painting, crafts and music until 3 p.m.

11:30 a.m.  30th Annual Rappahannock River Raft Race   Come join the fun and spend the Fourth of July on the river!  This year’s race will begin at the Falmouth Water Front Park and conclude at City Dock.  Raft check-in and registration will begin at the Falmouth Water Front Park at 7:30 a.m.  
Cost: Register before June 22: Commercial, $50; Club/Organization, $35: Individuals, $25.   Register day of event: Commercial, $60; Club/Organization, $50; and Individuals, $35.
Raft classes include Inflatable Hull, Speed, Huck Finn, and Commercial Huck Finn. Awards will be presented at City Dock shortly after the races conclusion for the following categories:  First Raft to finish, Winning Time in Each Class, Most Patriotic Raft, and “We didn’t think it would make it, but…”

6 p.m.  "July 4th Spectacular" at Pratt Park    Bring your lawn chairs and picnic dinners (food vendors will be available) and experience a night of great music and fun for the annual POPS concert.   The University of Mary Washington-Community Symphony, featuring both talented UMW students as well as community musicians, will perform a mix of patriotic tunes and audience favorites including John Philip Sousa, John Williams, Andrew Lloyd Weber and many others, directed by Dr. Kevin Bartram  WFLS personality Todd Grimstead will emcee and baritone Darryl Ott will perform. 
Note:  NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR GLASS CONTAINERS MAY BE BROUGHT INTO PRATT PARK.   Coolers are subject to search.

9:15 p.m.  The Fireworks  Crowning the entire day’s festivities, watch this great display shot from the heights above the Rappahannock River in Brooks Park.  Find one of the best vantage points at the event in Pratt Park for this excellent show!  There will be plenty of free parking. 
Please note:   Old Mill Park will close at 8 p.m. on July 4 and will NOT be available as a firework viewing spot.
