Why is my pool water cloudy?
There are several things that can cause a pool to become cloudy and lose clarity. Poor filtration, insufficient water circulation, water chemistry imbalance, and/or low sanitizer levels (separately or in combination with other factors), may be the culprit. A visit from one of the trained service technicians at Monarch Pool Care may be an inexpensive way to diagnose potential problems and avoid throwing away hundreds of dollars on expensive chemical cures that may not work.
Why does my pool have a strong chlorine smell?
Believe it or not – a strong chlorine smell may be a sign that you do not have enough chlorine in the pool. When chlorine is added to a pool it expends itself to sanitize the pool. During this process chlorine breaks down and combines with the very bacteria it is trying to destroy. These combined chlorine are called “chloramines”, the symptoms of which include a strong chlorine odor, irritation of the skin and red eyes. Monarch Pool Care’s professional water test is a must to help you diagnose the trouble, calculate “breakpoint chlorination” and relieve that smelly problem.
I have a pool. I just bought a spa. They’re the same, right?
No. Try not to think of your spa as a “little pool”. Some of the chemicals that are fine for use in your pool will ruin the acrylic of your new spa. Also, many spa manufacturers today are utilizing sanitizer aids such as ozonators and mineral cartridges to make spa maintenance easier. In addition to these factors, because of your spa’s hot water and relative smaller size it is a unique water environment and should be cared for differently than your pool. The professional staff at Monarch Pool Care is happy to answer all of your spa questions and develop a spa care routine to help you ensure your spa enjoyment.
