On April 6, 2012 at approximately 0030 hours, Trooper A. Moore was on routine patrol in the area of southbound 301 at Route 228 when he observed a gold Mazda Protégé with an inoperative rear license plate illumination. Trooper Moore stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Robert Daniel Lindsay, 23 years of Alexandria, Virginia when he smelled an odor of marijuana in the vehicle. Lindsay was arrested and charged with “did wear, carry and knowingly transport a handgun in a vehicle upon the public roads, highways, waterways, airways and parking lots generally used by the public.”
