At about 3:30 p.m. yesterday, Maryland State Police at the La Plata Barrack were contacted by a detective from the Greensboro (North Carolina) Fugitive Apprehension Team. The detective informed troopers about the abduction of Sincere Skinner by the suspect, the non-custodial father of the victim, after a domestic incident. A warrant had been obtained in North Carolina charging Nichon Skinner with 1st and 2nd degree child abduction and assault by strangulation.
An AMBER Alert had been issued in North Carolina. Maryland state troopers were informed the ongoing investigation indicated the suspect may be traveling into Maryland on Rt. 301. Troopers were immediately dispatched to Rt. 301 in the area of La Plata. Within minutes, a trooper spotted the suspect vehicle, a white and blue Ford Crown Victoria, headed north on Rt. 301 at Rt. 6.
The trooper was joined by personnel from the La Plata Police Department and the Charles County Sheriff’s Office before a traffic stop was initiated. Police stopped the vehicle and arrested Nichon Skinner without incident. Sincere Skinner was found in the car and appeared to be in good condition.
