Narrative:
On 9/16/13 at approximately 0216 hours Troopers from the Maryland State Police Laplata Barrack responded to a reported serious motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on US Rt 301 just north of MD Rt 227. Upon arrival Troopers located two unresponsive subjects in the roadway wearing motorcycle safety equipment. Preliminary investigation revealed Unit # 2, a white 2006 Kenworth Tractor, bearing Virginia registration “PY103993” towing a silver 2006 Fontaine Trailer, bearing Virginia registration “909508TR”, was traveling north bound on US Rt 301 at MD Rt 227 and had stopped for the red traffic signal. Unit # 2 proceeded through the intersection and was accelerating after receiving the green light. Unit # 1, occupied by two adult males, was traveling north bound, behind Unit # 2 in lane # 2. The operator of Unit # 1 failed to control its speed to avoid the collision and struck the trailer of Unit # 2. The driver of Unit # 2, Charlie Ray Hood, was not injured as a result of the collision. Both occupants of the motorcycle were ejected and had succumbed to their injuries from the collision on the scene. The victims were transported to the Maryland Chief Medical Examiners Office in Baltimore.
