On Tuesday March 5th, 2013 at approximately 0719 hours, Troopers from the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack responded to the area of Northbound Leonardtown Road and Prince Frederick Road for a reported overturned tractor trailer.
Troopers  arrived on scene at approximately 0722 hours and located a 2010 Volvo truck tractor bearing  North Carolina Registration hauling a 53 foot refrigerator trailer that was overturned and blocking the ramp from the east bound traffic circle ramp to Prince Frederick Road.
The investigation revealed the truck tractor and trailer combination was traveling southbound Leonardtown Road, exiting the highway onto the traffic round-about ramp, the vehicle negotiated the first round-about continuing under the overpass to the second traffic round-about for eastbound Prince Frederick Road. As the operator negotiated the second round-about he was traveling to fast for conditions and the vehicle overturned onto its right side. The vehicle came to rest on the raised curb median separating the traffic round-about from the bypass ramp. The combination blocked the ramp from the traffic round-about onto Prince Frederick Road.  Once overturned the truck tractor began leaking diesel fuel onto the highway.  The on duty Hazmat squad responded to the scene and was able to mitigate the leakage without any further damage.  The roadway was closed until 1047 hours.
