Stafford County has a new fire chief.
Mark Lockhart has been named chief of fire and emergency medical services. Lockhart first came to the county in 2010 as an assistant chief, has been serving as the acting fire chief since May, while the county conducted a national search to fill the position.
Former Chief Rob Brown, the first chief over the county’s volunteer and career units, left to become the Fire Chief in Fresno, Calif.
