The Flexplay Company is offering the 48-hour disposable DVD.
CEO Jeff Arnold says it's an inexpensive, hassle-free idea that eliminates returns and late fees.
"The way the technology operates is that you inbed a chemical into the physical DVD and seal it. And when you open it up, and you have over a year until you have to open it, and it's exposed to oxygen, it creates a chemical reaction and turns the DVD black 48 hours later which then makes it inoperable with a DVD player or erasing the content."
For $4.99, you can go to Amazon.com, type in Flexplay, and choose from about 60 different titles.
