UMW's Eberhart wins two events

James Eberhart won the men's shot put (45-10 and discus (139-3) to lead the host University of Mary Washington track teams at Saturday's Battleground Relays.

The Eagles also got a victory from Carly Hambley in the women's high jump (5-0) on the second day of the meet. UMW athletes won three events on Friday.

Two former area high school athletes also won events on Saturday. Courtland High School graduate Anthony Wallace, competing unattached, took the men's long jump (23-7). And former Caroline star Marquitta Mines finished first in the women's 100 meters (12.88).
